Biography

Carys is a senior consultant in the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) team. She joined RSM in October 2021 after working in audit at a Big 4 firm and qualifying as an ACA Chartered Accountant. Carys has worked with clients in a range of sectors, including constructionmanufacturing, and pensions.

Carys manages the day-to-day relationships with our clients, as well as leading on the delivery of sustainability projects. Through this work, she helps to drive organisational change across sustainability and social issues through ESG strategy development and reporting.

Carys is the point of contact for ESG technical reporting, frameworks, and emerging regulation.

While at RSM, she has worked with clients to identify climate-related risks and opportunities and with early adopters to bring their disclosures in line with best practice. Carys also has experience in CDP submissions and working with clients on their net zero transition plans. Although specialising in sustainability, Carys can work across the ESG spectrum and has undertaken governance reviews and worked on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion projects.

Carys holds a MEnv in Sustainability and Environmental Management from the University of Leeds and Australian National University. She conducted research projects overseas, including the viability of alternative finance methods for rural renewable energy projects in Tanzania. In 2017, she wrote her Master’s dissertation on the preparedness of the pensions sector to report under the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

"I take a multi-disciplinary and innovative approach to find solutions to environmental and societal problems. One of the best parts of working as an ESG consultant is really understanding my clients – their business models, supply chains and product mixes. Reporting frameworks, including TCFD and the International Sustainability Standards Board, have been a game changer. They require us to understand strategic risks and opportunities so the business community can lead the change in climate action and other sustainability issues."

Outside of work, Carys is fortunate to live close to several national parks and enjoys hiking when not running along the canal! For balance, she loves cooking and baking for friends and family.
