RSM’s M&A and private equity and due diligence teams have advised BDP, a leading international practice of architects, designers and engineers, on the acquisition of Pattern, an award-winning British architectural studio focused on the delivery of world class sports venues.

Global design consultancy BDP is a subsidiary of Nippon Koei, a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The group employs more than 5,700 people and operates in 160 countries.

Pattern was established in 2009 and operates from offices in London, Edinburgh and Lima. Recent projects include the delivery of eight venues for the Pan American Games, Lima 2019 and two stadia for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Steven Brown, associate director at RSM, commented: ‘We are delighted to have been able to work with the BDP management team to help deliver this transaction which will significantly enhance BDP’s ability to deliver high profile sports venues globally.’

Weightmans provided legal advice to BDP. The shareholders of Pattern were advised by Citroen Wells (financial) and Solomon Taylor & Shaw (legal).
