Today, RSM UK announces a strategic partnership with IntellixCore, a leading specialist AI consultancy to super-charge its plans to become the UK’s leading AI-powered audit, tax and consulting firm, transforming how it delivers value to clients.
The partnership will be enabled through an AI Orchestration Platform to underpin RSM’s transformation to an AI-centric operating model, where its people work seamlessly alongside AI agents tuned to the firm’s methodologies and regulatory frameworks.
To power this transformation, RSM is also announcing the launch of a dedicated AI Lab to drive AI-enabled innovation and adoption, and ensure AI usage across the firm is secure, explainable, and focused on the enhancement of client value.
As the UK government and regulators confront the opportunities and challenges arising from AI, these investments will position the firm to harness the potential of agentic AI in a way that respects and responds to the evolving regulatory context for accountants.
Chris Knowles, Chief Digital Officer at RSM UK, comments: “Being AI-centric is about rewiring your business around the capabilities of AI to the benefit of your clients or customers, with clear guardrails relevant to your industry and regulatory environment. This strategic investment in our new AI Lab, powered by IntellixCore, will help us achieve this strategic ambition quickly and responsibly.
“We have already made significant progress, including training all our people on core generative AI skills. We have built AI into our tax solutions, such as our market-leading Tax Insight platform, to help our clients achieve global tax compliance. We are embedding it into advanced data analytics within our audit services, and our consulting practice is helping our clients to carve a tailored path to responsible AI adoption. This new partnership will allow us to further innovate our client solutions.”
Backed by global scale, RSM UK’s announcement builds on and aligns with recently announced investments in AI by RSM US as the two firms prepare to complete a ground-breaking transatlantic merger.
Rob Donaldson, CEO at RSM UK, comments: “We want to be right at the forefront of AI adoption, but thoughtfully and always in ways that benefit our clients. It is not technology for technology’s sake, it’s about empowering our people to go the extra mile for our clients by releasing them from the more routine, less rewarding tasks. And it’s also about offering terrific career opportunities for those keen to build deep digital skills in the accounting industry.”
Sultan Mahmood, CEO of IntellixCore, comments: “Our partnership with RSM reflects a shared vision of what enterprise AI should be. The future of work is about human workers interacting seamlessly with autonomous agents in ways that genuinely drive value, especially for customers. Our partnership puts RSM in a powerful position to be the first professional services firm to truly embrace digital intelligence and reimagine how clients experience audit, tax and consulting services.”
RSM has closely monitored the evolving UK AI policy and regulatory landscape, ensuring the tools and expertise it implements remain in sync with the evolving demands of the national agenda. The firm has monitored and contributed to the FRC’s (Financial Reporting Council) recently released guidance to the audit profession on the use of AI, and the ICAEW’s (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) ongoing AI consultation and insight it is facilitating for the sector. The AI Lab will work tightly with RSM’s audit technical and data teams to ensure key principles including AI explainability and proportionate documentation are embedded into the firm’s assurance services.
