About Shannon Dowdles

Shannon Dowdles is a corporate tax partner based in Aberdeen. She has over 20 years of corporate tax experience and has spent most of her career supporting businesses operating within the energy and natural resources sector.

Shannon applies her industry knowledge to a broad range of domestic and international tax issues, such as entry into the UK/UK Continental Shelf, creation of taxable presence and profit attribution, group and contract structuring, tax governance, tax compliance, provisioning, incentives, optimising tax attributes and engaging with HMRC.

Shannon has spent time both in practice and industry, but most of her career has been spent in the Big Four at EY working with medium to large energy and oilfield service companies on domestic and international corporate tax issues.

She is a Chartered Tax Advisor, a member of ICAS and obtained a first-class degree from the University of Aberdeen.

"I love that my role gives me a window into so many businesses within the energy and natural resources sector and it is a privilege to support them in assessing and implementing their plans. Strategic, commercial and operational decisions are often complex and time sensitive and I partner with our clients to provide a responsive, integrated and collaborative service, which they can depend on to deliver value and clarity as they pursue their short and long-term objectives."

When not at work, Shannon makes the most of the Aberdeenshire coast and hills and enjoys a wander with her husband, their two children and Hamish, their over-excited labrador.
