About Kate Clews

Kate Clews is a Director in RSM’s Shareholder Transaction Advisory team and leads the firm’s national Shareholder Transaction Group. She specialises in advising shareholders and management teams on the tax aspects of transactions, including business disposals and private equity investments. Kate works closely with clients to help them navigate complex transactions, manage tax risk and maximise value.

She collaborates with colleagues across the firm to bring together the right expertise, delivering practical and commercially focused advice to support clients through some of the most significant events in their business journey. Her clients range from owner-managed businesses to private equity-backed companies.

Kate joined RSM on the graduate scheme in 2017 and has specialised in shareholder transaction advisory since qualifying as a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) in 2020. She has advised on more than 100 transactions, supporting shareholders and management teams across a broad range of sectors.

Her experience includes advising on business disposals, private equity investments and other complex shareholder transactions. In 2025, Kate was recognised as an ePrivateClient NextGen Leader, reflecting her expertise and growing reputation in the market.

"What motivates me most is helping shareholders and management teams navigate some of the most important decisions in their business journey. A transaction is often the result of years of hard work, and I enjoy helping clients understand the tax considerations and structuring options available to them, manage complexity and achieve the right outcome. Every deal is different, which means there is always a new challenge to solve and an opportunity to add value. I particularly enjoy the collaborative nature of transactions, working with clients and other advisers to bring together the right expertise and deliver practical, commercially focused advice."

Outside work, Kate is passionate about travel and sport. She has followed England’s cricket team in Australia, South Africa and the West Indies, and is working towards visiting all 50 US states, with 28 completed so far.
