About James Hunt
James Hunt is the Head of Transactions Tax at RSM UK and spends his time between our London and Birmingham offices. His role includes providing due diligence, structuring and related M&A transaction advice to investors, businesses and management teams. He co-ordinates input from technical specialists and overseas teams and uses this to deliver clear, commercial advice to clients. He has advised on over 200 transactions to date across a variety of sectors, and prior to joining RSM, he was at a Big Four firm for 15 years.
James has a particular expertise in advising private equity funds and their portfolio companies, helping them to navigate tax issues throughout the investment lifecycle, managing risk and protecting shareholder value on exit. This can include tax actions in the post-deal 100-day plan, helping management to embed the acquisition structure, address due diligence issues, bolt-on acquisitions, refinancing, restructuring, exit readiness and support through a sale process.
When asked what motivates him in his role, James said:
“I am passionate about helping businesses with their growth ambitions. It gives me a buzz to work on a transaction and great satisfaction knowing that my advice has helped to support a successful investment.”
Outside of work, James loves spending time with his wife and two children. His interests include watching Formula 1, running, playing squash, and playing guitar.
