RSM UK and Anthony Nolan celebrate 15-year partnership with lifesaving

Leading audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK is celebrating its 15-year partnership with Anthony Nolan - marking the milestone by funding its 10,000 courier trip to deliver life-saving stem cells to patients in need across the UK.

Anthony Nolan is a charity that matches potential stem cell donors to patients with blood cancer and blood disorders, while carrying out pioneering research to increase the success of stem cell transplants. In collaboration with RSM UK it runs a courier programme where volunteers transport donated stem cells to a hospital to save the lives of people needing a transplant.

RSM UK was inspired to partner with the charity 15-years ago when a member of its team, Stephen Berger and his family, campaigned to find a stem cell donor for his wife who was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer.

The corporate collaboration continues to raise awareness of the pivotal work that Anthony Nolan delivers, while encouraging people to join the stem cell register and raising over £2 million in much-needed funding to support the life saving courier programme.

Nick Sladden, partner, chair of trustees for the RSM UK Foundation and Anthony Nolan volunteer, said: “Stephen introduced RSM UK to Anthony Nolan back in 2010 – turning personal trauma into a successful partnership that has not only lasted 15 years, but the collaboration has raised much-needed funds to support the lifesaving work of Anthony Nolan.

“We are hugely proud of our long-standing partnership with Anthony Nolan. This longevity has allowed us to fund over 10,000 courier trips offering hope and potentially life-saving stem cells to people in need when they need it. It’s a network of volunteers that all dedicate time to help others and that’s something truly special to be a part of.”

Anthony Nolan Chief Executive Henny Braund MBE said, “It’s incredible to be celebrating 15 years of RSM UK supporting Anthony Nolan during Blood Cancer Awareness month. Reaching 10,000 trips is a fantastic milestone and gives us all an opportunity to reflect on the real lifesaving impact that this partnership has for the patients and families that we strive to support.”
