SWIFT has changed for 2021 – what you need to know

What is your responsibility?

SWIFT mandates that your attestation submitted for 2021 is now independently assessed through either an internal or/and an external assessment.

What is SWIFT?

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication ('SWIFT') established the Customer Security Programme (CSP) to promote cybersecurity within the SWIFT community and to drive industry-wide collaboration in the battle against cyber threats. SWIFT recorded an average of 42.4m messages per day YTD April 2021 (up 11 per cent on prior year).

Users are responsible for the security of their infrastructure, and to support this, the CSP has been designed to help combat end-point security threats and cyber fraud.  The core component of the CSP is the Customer Security Controls Framework (CSCF), a common set of security controls revised annually.  This framework helps users secure their local environments and, in turn, the SWIFT community at large.

How can RSM help you?

RSM has established a SWIFT Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the UK where we perform the assessments on behalf of your organisation and provide the independent attestation to SWIFT.

We provide the skilled team and proven approach that reduces the burden on your own resources to meet this requirement at short notice.
