As the Government continues to announce support and advice, we will continue to provide useful insights on critical areas, including reliefs for business, funding and business continuity, to ensure that you are kept up to date.

Latest update - 1 April 2020

  • Charities: The Charity Commission has updated their guidance to include information about changing charitable objects and sources of support from other organisations – contact us for more information. 
  • Business support: the Government has updated the guidance on business support grant funding, with clarification on eligibility of charities and reporting requirements – contact us for further guidance. 
  • Insolvency: companies undergoing a rescue or restructure process will be able to continue trading, and wrongful trading provisions for company directors will be suspended – contact us for advice.
  • AGMs: the Chartered Governance Institute have published guidance for listed companies on holding AGMs and managing associated risks in light of stay-at-home measures – contact us for advice.
  • Self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS): those who are self-employed, or a member of a partnership, can apply for a grant worth 80 per cent of their monthly profits, up to a maximum of £2,500 a month. Find out more.
  • Job Retention Scheme (JRS): employers can designate those who would otherwise have been laid off as being on leave of absence or ‘furloughed’. This scheme operates instead of redundancy or lay off. Find out more.
  • Statutory Sick Pay (SSP): SMEs can reclaim the SSP paid for sickness absences due to the coronavirus. Find out more.
