HMRC have begun sending letters to owners and occupiers of UK property where the registered owner is a company. The letters to occupiers in particular may cause alarm and confusion with incorrect or misleading information being provided due to a lack of understanding. You will need to act to reassure occupants and avoid unnecessary and expensive HMRC enquiries being raised.

The Government has confirmed that it intends to reform the off-payroll working rules (commonly known as IR35) from 6 April 2020. This change impacts an estimated 170,000 individuals who supply their services through an intermediary, such as a personal service company (PSC), and who would be deemed employed if engaged directly.
