Britain’s managed pub, restaurant and bar groups saw collective like-for-like sales bounce back up to 2019 levels in August thanks to the Government’s Eat Out To Help Out campaign, latest figures from the Coffer Peach Business Tracker show.

August has seen UK manufacturing output expand at the fastest rate for over six years as companies and their clients restarted operations following coronavirus lockdowns. It is excellent to see these figures showing a bounce back for the manufacturing industry but this bounce back is as fragile as they come….

The upturn in July’s figures for car production by 51 per cent compared to June is welcome news for the industry. However, with year on year production down 40 nearly per cent, the industry remains at a tipping point and in need of urgent targeted Government support.

Results from July’s ONS retail sales figures show the first full month of trade since non-essential stores in England were permitted to reopen by Government. Encouragingly there was growth for the second consecutive month at 3 per cent above pre-pandemic levels in February 2020.
