About William Simpson

William Simpson is part of RSM’s internal audit team, and is experienced in internal control, risk and governance. He works across the not-for-profit sector, specialising in the education and social housing sectors. William leads on RSM UK's approach to Higher Education data (within both the higher education and further education setting) as one of our national education and skills funding data specialists.

After completing a PhD at King’s College London, William joined RSM as a graduate in 2015. He believes the modern internal audit function should add value to the organisation and provide continued assurance to the board. In order to do so, he spends time getting to understand his clients to tailor RSM’s internal audit services to their specific needs. With a strong focus on audit quality, William keenly provides insights at internal and external training events to explain good practice as well as emerging sector risks and how they impact organisations.

In his spare time, William with his wife enjoys travelling the country (and world) in the search of new experiences, and places to eat. When it is not raining, he enjoys clay pigeon shooting and is a keen gym goer.
