About Will Rainford

Will Rainford is a corporate tax associate director based in the North West and works with a diverse range of clients focussing on maximising the tax incentives available through R&D and patent box. Innovation is the connection between all of Will’s clients, and he enjoys working with innovative businesses whether they are university spin outs of FTSE 350 corporates.

Prior to joining RSM in 2020, Will spent 9 years at a Big 4 firm specialising in corporate tax. During this time, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor. Combined with a degree background in Physics, Will began specialising in the innovation reliefs aspects of corporate tax within his first year in the tax profession.

Will focusses on providing tailored innovation reliefs support to companies, designing methodologies which are effective in maximising the reliefs available through strong relationship with each of the stakeholders involved in the R&D process.

'What I enjoy most about working in Innovation Reliefs is building an understanding of businesses both financially and technologically. Through our work, we contribute to the funding of research and development through tax incentives, which allows this important investment to continue and therefore improves productivity.'

Outside work, Will enjoys playing with his two young children. He can be found playing hockey during the winter and doing a lot of gardening in the summer.
