Shirley McIntosh is RSM UK’s Head of Tax for Scotland and Northern Ireland. She has over 30 years’ experience advising private clients, owner managed businesses, trusts, charities, professional services, rural businesses and several non-residents.
Shirley initially started out as a chartered accountant trainee before pursuing a career in tax. She joined RSM in 2011 as a tax partner in our Edinburgh office before becoming Head of Tax for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Asked what motivates her in her working life, Shirley says:
I enjoy the variety of work and being a trusted adviser to my clients. Some of these relationships have been built over 20 years and now include the next generation. I also enjoy watching the development of the younger members of the RSM team and trying to help them along their journey.
Outside of work, Shirley has a keen interest in sports, having competed at international level for Scotland and GB in target shooting, and regularly participates at her local club. The sport is very much a family affair. Shirley’s husband, a former internationalist himself, coaches at GB level. Their two daughters have also achieved great shooting success, both competing at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
