Biography

Rob is a chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in financial modelling working across consulting, deal services and restructuring situations

He works with business owners, funders, and management teams to drive business decisions, especially in investments and transactions, giving stakeholders insight into the drivers of value or risk when appraising a decision.

Rob has led modelling services across a vast amount of sectors, his expertise spanning from strategic planning to detailed budgeting, from investment and M&A to restructuring and insolvency.

Previously, Rob led the creation of Grant Thornton’s financial modelling service line for over 10 years. Prior to this, Rob worked at EY and PwC. Rob was responsible for leading EY’s development of financial modelling services for restructuring.

As an EMCC-accredited coach, Rob is passionate about supporting and developing others on their career journeys. Rob chaired the ICAEW Excel Community and was an office holder for the ICAEW Tech Faculty for many years. He has been and will continue to be an active voice in establishing thought leadership and great practices across the financial modelling industry.

'Gathering ideas, exploring a problem, planning and executing a great technical solution – that’s what gets me to work in the morning. I love meeting people and talking about business problems or opportunities, especially over coffee. Modelling work brings a unique blend of creative and analytical challenges, and I love unpicking how a business works, what drives value, how we map that into making tools that really change how to make decisions.'

Outside of RSM, Rob enjoys keeping body and mind active, with walking, running, and swimming, and board games and puzzles. He is an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, satire, and psychology books, and has been known to dabble in some amateur science fiction writing himself. He drinks too much coffee.
