Biography

Phil is a VAT partner with a focus on the media and technology sector. He regularly writes blogs and articles on how the pace of technological innovation affect businesses VAT obligations, as well as contributing to RSM's budget insight.

Phil’s career began as a graduate in a big four firm where he spent many years advising a wide-range of clients. Phil has also worked as an in-house indirect tax manager for two award winning tax teams, one in a large telecommunications business and a multi-channel leisure business.

During his career, Phil has built significant experience in advising on a wide range of VAT matters including; international VAT, dispute resolution and M&A VAT issues.

Phil works across London and the south region helping media and technology businesses with VAT and other indirect tax issues. 

When asked what motivates him, Phil explained:

'Working with businesses that are adapting to new challenges and opportunities is enormously rewarding, particularly when I get to work with talented RSM team members in other specialisms and countries.'

Outside work Phil is an exhausted father of two and is desperate to ensure they share his passion for rugby (as a spectator) and fishing.

  • 2023: VAT lead for media and technology sector
  • 2018:  became VAT lead for the south region offices 
  • 2015:  joined as VAT Partner in the Southampton office
