Biography

Phil is a tax partner focussed on UK and international tax, with over 20 years’ experience, mainly within the Big 4 and in industry. 

Phil has a significant amount of experience working with fast-growth and AIM listed technology companies, having worked closely with many scaling tech businesses both at corporate and shareholder level. 

Phil worked for three years as the in-house tax and treasury director for a UK AIM listed company headquartered in the UK, but with significant operations in the US and Canada. Phil was based in Silicon Valley. With his industry experience and tech focus he brings a pragmatic and holistic approach to advising his clients.

Phil’s focus is on supporting businesses through their growth journey, thinking about tax from both the corporate and shareholder level, from the early stage start-up through to the ultimate exit.

Phil invests significant amounts of time to truly understand the operations of the businesses he works with and ensures he builds strong relationships with his clients. As he used to work in industry, where anything with the word tax in it came across his desk, he likes to become an extension of his client’s finance function to be supportive on a real-time basis.

Phil loves to get involved with fast growing tech business, especially when they are expanding, and even more so, when the expansion is into the US. Based on both industry experience and working within this sector for many years, Phil helps clients navigate their way through the complexities of tax systems, in particular the US, translating it into practical and pragmatic advice and actionable processes and procedures.

In his spare time, Phil enjoys weightlifting and is a 1st degree black belt in Korean martial art.
