Biography

Peter is a Chartered Tax Adviser and a member of the Association of Tax Technicians and has been with RSM for over 30 years. Peter’s clients include large professional practices, high net worth individuals and families, non-UK domiciles, and UK and offshore trusts. He advises on a wide range of tax matters including inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning as well as ensuring clients meet their tax compliance obligations.

Having previously worked for HMRC for 13 years, six of those as a tax inspector, he uses his experience to pre-empt how HMRC will react or challenge any transactions undertaken, ensuring clients’ tax returns are reported effectively. Peter is also one of the private client tax team’s tax investigations specialists and regularly supports any HMRC investigations on behalf of the firms’ clients.

When asked why he enjoys his role, Peter says:

"I really enjoy the variety of my role, as I have the privilege of working with a wide range of clients. I take pride in my ability to explain complex tax matters in a simple way, giving clients comfort that their tax affairs are in order, so they won’t be getting any unwanted attention from the tax man. I am always happy to act as a sounding board and as a result have built many strong and lasting relationships with both clients and RSM team members."

Peter has recently moved to the countryside and is enjoying village life and the opportunity to get out in nature with his family and grandchildren. Peter also enjoys a dinner and theatre (when time allows!)
