Biography

Paul is a Tax Director based in Glasgow and Leeds and heads our specialist capital allowances services for the North East, Scottish and Northern Ireland regions. He is dual qualified as a chartered quantity surveyor (MRICS) and member for the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) with 18 years experience as a capital allowances specialist.

He provides detailed technical capital allowances advice for OMBs and large corporates across a number of sectors, including a key focus in the renewables sector. He is a skilled negotiator and has successfully agreed a large amount of capital allowances claims through meeting with HMRC, without concession of any allowances.

In June 2022, Paul led the firm’s response to the recent HM Treasury policy paper on potential reforms to the UK’s capital allowances regime.

When asked what gets him out of bed in the morning, Paul says:

"Striving to do something better today than I did the day before gets me out of bed in the morning, along with providing for my family of course. Being a capital allowances specialist allows me to bring a good news story to clients every day, helping them save cash and optimise return on investment. What could be better than that!"

Outside of work, Paul enjoys spending time with his family and walking the dog. He loves sports and a game of chess to keep himself active.
