About Luke Cousins
Luke Cousins is a Corporate Tax Director with extensive expertise in Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR) regulations, introduced in the UK in 2017.
He advises medium and large-sized businesses across a variety of sectors on their corporation tax affairs, with a specific focus on CIR.
He co-leads RSM’s CIR specialist team, bringing together a group of people from across the firm to deliver quality work for our clients.
Luke became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in January 2024 after passing his CTA exams in November 2023.
Historically, he has worked with businesses of all sizes, from large multinationals and listed companies to smaller owner-managed businesses across a wide range of different sectors.
As well as managing the compliance cycles and day-to-day issues of his clients, he has also advised on a range of complex UK corporation tax issues, such as interest deductibility and corporate restructuring.
“I am passionate about delivering high-quality, compliant and strategic tax solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. I enjoy understanding and explaining complex legislation and working through the impact with clients to ensure that they are getting holistic, well-thought-out advice that they can understand.”
Away from work, Luke is a keen runner, usually targeting at least one half marathon a year – previous highlights include Stockholm and Paris. Unfortunately, he is currently recovering from knee surgery but should be back on the road soon. Once he’s fit, he would like to finally take on a triathlon.
He loves hosting dinner parties and catering for a group of people, even more so since he and his partner moved in to their new home last year.
