About Chris Mayo

Chris is a Partner in financial services risk and regulation, helping banks, fintechs and other regulated organisations strengthen governance, assurance and risk management.

Having spent his career both leading assurance functions inside major financial institutions and advising clients in professional practice, Chris brings a perspective that combines strategic insight with practical experience. He works closely with Boards, Audit Committees and executive teams to strengthen governance, enhance assurance and build confidence in decision-making, helping organisations respond to regulatory change while supporting sustainable growth.

Chris has more than 20 years' experience across financial services. Before joining RSM, he was Group Chief Internal Auditor at Shawbrook Bank, where he built and led the bank's internal audit function. Earlier in his career he held senior leadership roles at Lloyds Banking Group, Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays before moving into Director positions at Deloitte and EY, where he advised financial institutions on governance, assurance and internal audit transformation.

Having worked both as a client and as an adviser, Chris understands the commercial, operational and regulatory challenges organisations face and brings that practical experience to every client engagement. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
