About Amelia MacPherson
Amelia is part of RSM’s Industry Eminence Programme, where she provides insight and analysis on the economic, regulatory and technological trends shaping the technology and media sectors. By combining industry research with technical expertise, she helps businesses understand the wider forces influencing their markets and the opportunities and challenges they present.
As a Consulting Director in RSM’s Finance Function Support team, Amelia works with businesses to navigate complex financial reporting and accounting issues. She advises clients on the practical application of accounting standards in day-to-day operations, as well as supporting them through one-off events such as acquisitions, disposals, group restructures, and the implementation of new accounting standards.
Amelia started her career in audit, where she qualified as a chartered accountant as a member of the ICAEW. She spent seven years in audit before deciding to try a role in industry, joining the group reporting team at M&S.
Working at M&S provided Amelia with some incredible experiences, including reporting to the board of a FTSE 100 company and being on the other side of the audit process. However, she missed working with, and advising multiple businesses and the variety that working in practice offers.
“My main driver is making a difference, whether that's for our clients, our people or the wider community. I enjoy using my experience and expertise to solve problems, simplify complex issues and help others overcome challenges.
My ethos is simple: if there's something within my capability that can make a positive difference, I'll always do what I can to help.”
Amelia lives in Manchester with her husband and two children. During the time she gets to herself, she enjoys both going to the theatre and performing in an amateur theatre group. She is also a trustee of two charities: a community hall in Lancashire and the Blackpool Grand Theatre.
