Gareth Harris and Keith Marshall of RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP were appointed Joint Administrators of Hotel Company 42 The Calls Limited on 9 February 2018, which trades as ‘42 The Calls’. The Administrators have continued to trade the hotel since their appointment, but it has now been sold to Simon Pollard, a local investor, who plans to reignite the brand and redevelop the property to transform the hotel into a 5 star experience in the heart of Leeds.

Elaine, ATT (Fellow) and CTA, joins RSM following 28 years with EY. Her appointment strengthens the firms existing advisory position as it expands its private client practice in Birmingham and throughout the wider West Midlands region. Whilst Elaine will be based in its Birmingham office, her remit will expand to support the firm’s national growth plan.

Competition for funding key concern for UK charities

Increased competition for funding continues to be a major challenge for charities, highlighting pressure on cashflow and future services which could hit those most in need across the UK. The statistics, taken from RSM’s Funding and Functionality report, highlighted that over half of the respondents (60 per cent) view the competition for funding as a significant challenge for the sector; followed by a quarter stating that the stricter application of criteria when applying for funds as a key barrier.

Tech company start-ups jump by 60 per cent

The number of new tech companies being set up in the UK rose by almost 60 per cent in 2017 according to new analysis by RSM. In total, there were 10,016 software development and programming businesses incorporated in 2017, a 59 per cent increase on the 6,300 companies set up in 2016. The data from Companies House also revealed growth in tech company incorporations across every region in the UK.
