RSM UK appoints new partner specialising in financial crime prevention

Leading audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK has appointed Peter Hawkins as partner in the Forensics team, specialising in financial crime prevention.

Peter joins RSM from Deloitte, where he was a director and led the firm’s insurance forensic business. Prior to this, he worked in the Financial Services Authority (now the Financial Conduct Authority)’s enforcement division, investigating regulatory breaches, fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) issues.

He has more than 20 years' experience helping a wide range of financial services clients including banks, insurers, asset managers and public sector organisations to manage financial crime risk, respond to regulatory scrutiny and strengthen their control environments. He has led some of the most complex investigations and transformation programmes across the UK and internationally.

At RSM, Peter will utilise his expertise to bolster the firm’s financial crime offering and financial services capability, advising on issues including AML, sanctions, fraud, bribery and corruption, and broader financial crime risk management.

Peter Hawkins, Partner at RSM UK said: “Joining RSM offers an exciting opportunity for me to work closely with clients to protect their business, customers and reputation. The financial crime landscape continues to evolve rapidly and organisations need practical advice that not only addresses today's issues but prepares them for tomorrow's challenges. I particularly enjoy bringing clarity to challenging situations and helping clients make confident decisions.”

Jarrod Haggerty, Partner and Head of Forensic and Investigation Services at RSM UK, added: “Peter’s proven track record in financial crime risk and regulation makes him an ideal fit for the RSM team. His expertise in leading complex investigations and transformation programmes puts him in a strong position to build on the support and advisory services we offer clients. We look forward to seeing all that he achieves in his new role.”
