Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has announced an agreement to become an Official Supplier of the European Tour, beginning immediately and lasting through the 2017 European Tour schedule.
As part of the agreement, RSM will sponsor several marquee European Tour events in 2016 and 2017 including the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation, BMW PGA Championship, Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, and the British Masters supported by Sky Sports.
In addition to the tournament sponsorships, RSM and the European Tour will collaborate to conduct a bespoke performance study of the game of golf. The exact focus of this study will be determined in the coming months by a panel of leading golf minds and will be announced later this summer. In the interim, RSM and the European Tour will be placing staff working on the study inside the ropes at the above tournaments to begin collecting initial data.
This agreement builds on RSM’s January announcement of their partnership with European Tour star Andy Sullivan. Together, these programmes will grow RSM’s relationships within golf in the UK and augment their successful Team RSM sponsorship of US PGA Tour professionals Zach Johnson, Chris DiMarco and Davis Love III.
David Gwilliam, Chief Operating Officer for RSM, said:
“We are very excited to work with the European Tour over the coming years. Together, RSM and the European Tour will push the boundaries of traditional golf sponsorships and will seek out avenues to understand the key drivers to player efficiency in golf.”
Keith Pelley, CEO of the European Tour said:
“We are delighted to have RSM on board as an Official Supplier and we also look forward to collaborating on the bespoke performance study, which we hope will provide an intriguing insight into the demands faced by elite golfers.
“RSM already has a partnership with Andy Sullivan, who is not only a very talented golfer but also a terrific character, and we look forward to working together over the coming months.”
