The Chancellor has reconfirmed the government’s commitment to increasing the personal allowance to £12,500 and basic rate band to £50,000 by the end of the parliament. However, the government is also committed to clamping down on non-UK domiciliaries and the previously announced changes will be introduced in April 2017, despite a very short consultation period and with little time for affairs to be reorganised. Changes were also announced in relation to international pension schemes. Making Tax Digital will see the biggest change in the tax system over the next few years, and more details will be announced in January.
