The academic year end (31 July) for the further education sector is rapidly approaching, colleges and training providers minds are turning not towards holidays but Individualised Learner Record ‘ILRs’ and data cleansing ready for the submission of year end and final funding claims. For some providers there may also be an ESFA funding assurance review.
At RSM we carry out a variety of reviews of funding for our college and training provider clients, from full mock funding audits to deep dives into areas of concern. We also carry out funding assurance reviews for the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
We have highlighted below some of the key areas where we are finding issues that require further consideration by colleges and training provider management before they submit their year end and final funding claims:
- Adult Education Budget
- Pre-1 May 2017 apprenticeships
- Post 1 May 2017 apprenticeships
- 16-18 study programme learners
- Advanced learning loans
We have then considered these areas in more detail within our ‘Is your college preparing your year end and final funding claims’ briefing.
