Scottish Government update 15 April 2020
On 15 April, the Scottish Government announced an extra £220m funding package to support businesses through coronavirus lockdown. Previously Scottish firms could only claim one Small Business Grant per business, rather than one per property as is the case in the rest of the UK. This has been reversed going forward.
- Small business grants of £25,000 are available to retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with a rateable value between £18,001 and £51,000 in Scotland;
- Businesses can now apply for £25,000 for the first property and a 75% grant on all additional premises; and
- The new arrangements for the Small Business Grant will be in place to receive applications on 5 May.
A further £100 million fund is also being made available to small and micro businesses and grants of £10,000 are available to those who are ineligible for other Scottish or UK Government schemes.
Applying and getting paid
Grants are being administered through the 32 Local Authorities in Scotland. Application forms are found on each local council’s website. All can be accessed through the Scotland Government website here.
