Make an Impact at RSM UK
At RSM, we celebrate individuality, fresh thinking, flexibility, and collaboration. Our culture not only embraces change but also impacts it. We are not a one-size-fits-all firm and work hard to create an environment where our people can make a difference – to themselves, their career, their teams, and to the success of RSM and our clients.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our established Fraud Risk Services team for a Principal Consultant specialising in reactive investigations. You will take responsibility for the operational delivery and oversight of investigations into allegations of fraud and associated financial crime, supporting the Investigations Manager and senior management team with case delivery, staffing and client requirements. The role includes line management responsibility and the opportunity to lead non-NHS engagements as case owner.
RSM’s Fraud Risk Services team provides counter-fraud services to public and private sector clients, including fraud risk assessments, reviews of processes and policies, staff training, fraud detection exercises and investigations into allegations of fraud, bribery and corruption.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Leading the operational delivery and oversight of reactive fraud investigations across the client portfolio.
- Reviewing evidence, setting appropriate lines of enquiry and developing investigation strategies to prove or disprove allegations while securing and preserving the best evidence.
- Ensuring investigations progress promptly, with clear, accurate reports and case records completed within relevant timeframes.
- Monitoring case management and recording within Incase and Clue, escalating matters that present potential risk to clients or RSM.
- Supporting case presentations at CFA Tactical, Tasking and Coordination Group meetings, Crown Prosecution Service case conferences and client audit committees.
- Supervising, coaching and developing junior team members, while supporting effective resource planning, utilisation and day-to-day team management.
- Leading client relationships, recognising assignment risks and identifying business development and cross-selling opportunities.
- Applying relevant legislation, quality assurance processes and Fraud Risk Services standard operating procedures to maintain high-quality delivery.
What we are looking for:
Are you an experienced investigator who can manage a varied caseload, build strong client relationships and support colleagues to deliver high-quality work? We are looking for someone who combines sound investigative judgement with strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:
- Experience leading or overseeing complex fraud and financial crime investigations, including responsibility for case strategy, evidence and investigative reporting.
- A strong understanding of fraud and bribery legislation, together with relevant criminal investigation requirements, including PACE 1984, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996.
- Demonstrable experience presenting cases within the criminal justice system and coordinating with the Crown Prosecution Service.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations for senior audiences.
- The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload, work independently and deliver high-quality client service against competing deadlines.
- Experience supervising, coaching and providing feedback to junior colleagues.
- Strong client relationship skills and the ability to identify wider client needs and commercial opportunities.
- An ACFS qualification, or equivalent investigative qualification such as PIP Level 2.
- A good understanding of NHS Counter Fraud Authority requirements and their practical application.
What we can offer you:
Within RSM, we promote from within wherever possible, listen to your career goals and aspirations, and support you in your short- and long-term goals.
We offer a flexible reward and benefits package that will help you have a fulfilling experience, both in and out of work.
- Hybrid and flexible working
- 26 days’ holiday, with the option of purchasing additional days
- Lifestyle, health and wellbeing support, including financial wellbeing tools, an electric car scheme and access to a virtual GP
- Access to a suite of 300+ on-demand courses developed by our in-house Talent Development team
