It’s an exciting time to join our consulting team, as we embark on ambitious growth plans that promise to create diverse career opportunities. We are committed to enhancing our six solutions, expanding and developing our team of expert consultants, embracing a digital-first approach, strengthening our global presence, and building strong client relationships.
As a Manager within the Business Transformation team, you will lead the design and delivery of Power BI reporting and analytics solutions, from the underlying data model through to the dashboards senior stakeholders use to run their business. You will also advise clients on their current data landscape and reporting maturity, helping to shape their data strategies and future roadmaps.
About the Role
As part of the team, you will be working closely with clients, and it is therefore critical that you can establish trust and credibility quickly to build effective relationships.
It goes without saying that you are a team player, have a ‘can do’ attitude and understand that the best solutions come from collaboration and exchange of ideas.
You will be a problem solver, creative thinker, and self-starter, who is organised, proactive and inquisitive. Ideally you will already have been involved in Transformation projects and can demonstrate the value delivered to organisations with which you’ve worked. You should be comfortable managing day-to-day delivery, supervising junior team members and juggling multiple deadlines.
You will contribute to client proposals and presentations, and our clients will see you as a trusted advisor to work closely with them in identifying, analysing, and solving their business challenges.
In exchange, we offer exciting client opportunities, a clear and concise career development path, and promotion opportunities for those with the drive and the commitment to succeed in a dynamic environment, whilst delivering exceptional service to clients and becoming part of a high performing team.
You will make an impact by:
- Managing the day-to-day delivery of Power BI and analytics engagements, owning quality, timelines and budget, and flagging risks early.
- Designing and building high-quality Power BI solutions: robust data models, advanced DAX, Power Query transformations and clear, intuitive dashboards.
- Working closely with client stakeholders to understand their reporting needs, running requirements workshops and translating business questions into trusted insight.
- Setting the technical standard for Power BI across the team through reviews, reusable templates and good practice on modelling, performance, security and governance.
- Contributing to business development: supporting proposals, scoping work and helping to shape propositions such as dashboard-to-market offerings and deals analytics.
- Supervising, coaching and developing consultants and analysts, and building Power BI capability across the wider team.
- Applying the principle that data foundations and operating model design precede tooling, so that what we build is trusted and sustainable.
What we are looking for
We value diverse experiences and perspectives. You are an expert Power BI practitioner with the consulting skills to put that expertise to work for clients. Here is what we are looking for:
Essential
- Strong academic record: preferably with a relevant or business-focused degree (such as business, data analytics, computer science, or information systems).
- Very strong, hands-on Power BI expertise, demonstrated across multiple end-to-end builds: data modelling (including star schema design), advanced DAX, Power Query (M) and report and dashboard design.
- Strong working knowledge of the Power BI service, including workspaces, deployment pipelines, row-level security, gateways, refresh scheduling and performance optimisation.
- Good SQL skills and a strong understanding of the data lifecycle: sourcing, cleansing, transformation, ETL/ELT, modelling and visualisation.
- A track record of delivering Power BI and analytics projects for business stakeholders, whether in industry, consulting or professional services.
- Experience leading workstreams, managing competing deadlines and supervising or mentoring junior colleagues.
- Experience planning and facilitating client workshops to confirm objectives and requirements, identify gaps in data and processes, and shape the client’s reporting roadmap.
- Confidence demonstrating Power BI solutions to clients and prospects, helping them assess fit for their business.
- The ability to translate business problems into data requirements and to challenge and shape client thinking.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain complex ideas to non-technical senior stakeholders.
- Willingness to contribute to business development, including proposals, scoping and client presentations.
- Operates in line with RSM's core values of excellence, teamwork, integrity, respect and stewardship.
Desirable
- Accounting experience, such as a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or ICAS, qualified or part-qualified) or time in a finance function, with an understanding of key finance processes and data (GL, AP, AR) and how they drive reporting.
- Corporate finance experience, for example in transaction services, financial due diligence, valuations or M&A, including analysing financial data to tight deal timelines.
- Consulting experience, ideally within a professional services firm or specialist data consultancy, with exposure to client delivery and proposal writing.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, the wider Azure data stack or other modern data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake, and working knowledge of Alteryx, Python or R.
- Experience applying AI in an analytics context, such as Copilot in Power BI.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer).
What we can offer you
We recognise that our people are our most important assets. That’s why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package that will help you have fulfilling experience, both in and out of work.
- Hybrid and flexible working.
- 27 days holiday (with the option of purchasing additional days).
- Lifestyle, health, and wellbeing including financial wellbeing benefits such as financial tools, electric car scheme and access to a virtual GP.
- Access to a suite of 300+ courses on demand developed by our inhouse talent development team
