Head of Content
Make an Impact at RSM UK
We are bringing content creation back in-house. The Head of Content will lead that function, with the ownership and ambition to define, maintain and elevate our written brand identity across every channel and audience.
As we grow at pace, the demands on our written output grow with us. More content, higher stakes, faster turnaround — and an information landscape that is changing rapidly. Generative search and large language models now sit between organisations and their audiences, pulling heavily from written content to surface, summarise and recommend. The quality, structure and distinctiveness of how we write has never mattered more. This role exists to meet that challenge.
This is a senior leadership role. The Head of Content sits within the Creative and Communications leadership team, works as a genuine partner across the business, and will operate within an integrated agency model. Copy first is the philosophy; this person lives it.
The Head of Content will lead a growing function that brings together editorial, social and search capability. The content function exists to serve the business, and some of the most commercially significant writing happens outside the Creative and Communications team. The Head of Content will work closely with the following IMC functions to ensure that the quality, consistency and strategic intent of our written output extends across the full breadth of how we go to market.
Our digital footprint — the sum of everything we publish, how it is structured, how it reads and how consistently it reflects our brand — is a significant strategic asset. The Head of Content will play a central role in shaping and protecting that footprint, ensuring our written output performs well for both human readers and the AI systems that increasingly mediate between them and us.
The ambition is a content function that is recognised across the business as a creative, commercial and strategic asset: one that elevates our brand, strengthens our digital presence and is built to scale.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Define, own and evolve our tone of voice — creating a clear, usable framework that reflects who we are, scales with our growth, and is understood and applied consistently across every team and channel.
- Set and maintain editorial standards across all written output: web, press, internal, social, AV and leadership communications.
- Establish a house style and suite of editorial resources — briefing templates, style guides, copy principles — that the wider organisation can use independently and confidently.
- Curate and champion best-in-class work: build a visible culture of editorial ambition and make excellent writing a source of pride across the business.
- Provide editorial feedback and guidance across the organisation, supporting colleagues to produce stronger work and developing writing capability beyond the content team.
- Champion a 'written-first' mindset: ensuring that the quality, clarity and originality of our writing is treated as a commercial and reputational asset, not just a communications tool.
- Audit and improve the coherence of our digital footprint — so that everything we publish builds a consistent, credible and distinctive picture of who we are across every surface where we appear.
- Work with PR & Media, Search and Design to ensure written content, digital presence and search strategy reinforce each other, and that our online identity is as intentional and well-maintained as our physical brand.
- Monitor developments in AI-driven discovery and content performance, bringing insight back to the leadership team and adapting our approach as the landscape evolves.
- Lead, develop and grow the content function — creating a high-performing team across editorial, social and search that can scale with the business and deliver excellent work at pace.
- Set clear briefs, give sharp and constructive editorial feedback, and hold a consistently high bar for quality across all output.
- Build a team culture rooted in craft, curiosity and collaboration — one that is proud of its work and invested in each other's growth.
- Manage workload and priorities across the team, balancing reactive delivery with longer-form and higher-ambition editorial projects.
What we are looking for:
Are you someone who thrives on variety, loves learning new things, and enjoys connecting with people? If you can spot inefficiencies in everyday life and are passionate about making improvements, this role is perfect for you!
We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Here’s what we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:
- Significant experience in an editorial leadership role, with a track record of raising quality and building capability in a complex, multi-channel environment.
- A practising writer; someone who leads by example and whose own work demonstrates what excellent looks like.
- Experience managing and developing a team, with genuine commitment to building skills, confidence and creative ambition.
- A strong point of view on tone of voice and brand language, with experience defining or significantly evolving a written voice.
- A keen commercial lens; a clear understanding of how copy quality and brand narrative drive growth, build trust and create competitive advantage, and the ability to make that case convincingly to senior stakeholders.
- A deep instinct for articulating ideas over products; the ability to identify the intellectual or human proposition at the heart of a service offering and express it as a narrative that resonates, particularly within the context of an LLP or professional services environment where trust, expertise and thought leadership are the real currency.
- Understanding of GEO and how large language models surface, cite and synthesise written content and how editorial decisions affect that.
- Proven ability to work across disciplines, building trusted relationships with design, communications, PR, media and senior leadership.
- Comfortable working at pace in a fast-growing organisation, maintaining quality when timelines are tight and priorities shift.
- Confident operating at a senior level: contributing to strategy, presenting to leadership, and influencing how the organisation thinks about communication.
What we can offer you:
We recognise that our people are our most important assets. That’s why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package that will help you have fulfilling experience, both in and out of work.
- Hybrid and Flexible working
