Working in core functions

Make your next move

Some of our most important roles are carried out by people in our internal core functions teams. Your career in core functions at RSM could take many directions, but we can guarantee that each day will be different, your projects will be exciting, and your work will make a difference.

Our people are at the heart of our business. We've invested in and expanded our people team over the last few years, giving them more capacity to work with our many internal client groups. In recent years, our in house HR teams main areas of focus have been expanding our engagement, D&l and talent teams to support the three pillars of our people strategy: wellbeing, inclusion and development.

Every single person at RSM deserves the chance to have a rich and rewarding career, including those who support everyone else. You'll be supported to grow and develop your career, no matter which direction you'd like to move in.

Our 'grow our own' strategy is central to the people team. Many of our senior leaders came here as junior staff - including our people partner, who joined as an advisor. We also support sideways moves for those who see their career taking an entirely different path.

We're an ambitious and dynamic firm, but support is central to how we work. Our trusted HR advisors will be there for you throughout your career. Whether it's through informal chats or formal development courses and qualifications, the only thing limiting your growth is your ambition.

We operate at the heart of the business, and an integral part of the firm, driving the growth agenda with a future focus. Seeking out and adapting to new technologies and methods and expertly advising and owning the marketing programme, delivering measurable, quality results.

By building a deep understanding of how we can truly deliver value to our clients, the team provide support and guidance at every stage of the client journey. The team work seamlessly with each sector, service line and region and collaboratively with each other to nurture existing and future client relationships that deliver true value to the business.

Our sector and service line marketing teams build a deep knowledge of our specialisms and translate this into content and campaigns that resonate with our markets, raise awareness of our expertise, and guide our clients through their business challenges. Our demand generation team helps us connect further with those markets and with individuals, identifying targets and uncovering leads and opportunities. Our clients and markets team help to manage those opportunities and work to build strong relationships both with our prospective clients and existing ones, often through gaining valuable feedback and hands-on account management. And our bid team are specialists in project managing muti-service proposal opportunities and presenting our bids in an engaging and compelling way.

We are ambitious, operate at pace, and drive for quantifiable results. We’re also a welcoming, fun and cohesive team who support each other to deliver the best outcome we can. If you would like to be a part of a valued core team we would love to hear from you.

Every brand team wants to feel like they’ve shaped the future of the business they work for. Our UK branding and communications team play an important role in shaping and conveying what we stand for and how we tell our story. Each member of this team inspires our evolving vision and helps spread the word of what we stand for.

Using data, we’re able to tell our story and showcase our expertise by sharing important technical updates.

Our design team brings our work to life with imaginative concepts and visuals. Our content team understands the way we want to speak and tells our stories in an authentic way. Our PR and digital teams build integrated communication plans to help us connect across all channels. They’re all brought together by our internal team, who give our people the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.

What our employees are saying

I joined RSM over six years ago as an HR assistant in the central region. I thoroughly enjoyed the culture here and found many opportunities to grow and develop my HR career

Before my time here, I was set on becoming a generalist HR professional. After a year or so working with other areas of HR, I found a love for all things reward and moved into a new role in this area. I haven't looked back since.

I have visited many of the RSM offices over the years to promote our benefits and everyone is always so friendly and welcoming.

I was attracted to RSM as the firm seemed so committed to developing its people. I've really felt that since I joined the firm in May 2022. I've had endless opportunities to grow, through learning and development courses or being part of additional projects.

No two days are the same here which is why I love my job as a talent acquisition specialist. I get to work with an amazing team and interact with the wider business, where you're encouraged to share ideas and innovative ways of working. For anyone thinking about joining RSM, you'll be joining a firm that encourages you to achieve your personal and professional aspirations, and always celebrate your successes.

I joined the in-house legal team on secondment in 2006 and jumped at the chance to take on a permanent role the following year. I have dealt with an amazing variety of work over the years, which has been both challenging and highly rewarding. No two days are the same.

The other thing that has made my time here great is the people I work with - RSM has always been a firm with its own personality, made up of great people. I now have the privilege of leading a fantastic team of in house solicitors, delivering the best service possible to our internal clients.

RSM is the place to go to build a career, as the culture of 'growing our own' is deep-rooted across the whole firm. Although professional growth is encouraged, supported and celebrated, opportunities are not imposed on people. Everyone is in charge of how fast, and how far, they're developed, and it's entirely up to each individual.

The diversity of opportunities I've been given here has been incredible. The experience gained, combined with the support offered, has helped me build a career I wouldn't have thought possible when joining 20+ years ago.

This is just one of the reasons I'm proud to work at RSM.
